Privacy Policy
Effective date: [set on publish]
This Privacy Policy explains how [ENTITY] (“TruckBoss,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the TruckBoss application and related services (the “Service”).
1. Information We Collect
- ·Account information — your name, email address, phone number, and CDL details (state, class) that you provide. Your password is managed by our authentication provider; we do not see or store it in plain text.
- ·Truck and business information — details about your truck (year, make, model, VIN, fuel economy, cost figures) and your trucking operations.
- ·Load and document data — load details, rates, broker names and contacts, notes, and files you upload (such as bills of lading, receipts, and proofs of delivery).
- ·Location data — when you start a trip using Live Trip Share, we collect GPS location readings from your device. See Section 4.
- ·Payment information — subscription payments are processed by Stripe. We do not collect or store your full card number; Stripe handles card data. We receive limited billing information such as subscription status and the last four digits of your card.
- ·Usage information — basic technical information generated as you use the Service, such as log data and timestamps.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to: provide and operate the Service; perform profitability calculations and mileage lookups; send compliance reminders you have set up; process subscription billing; provide customer support; maintain security; and improve the Service.
3. How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as follows:
- ·Service providers (sub-processors) — we use trusted third parties to operate the Service: Supabase (database, file storage, authentication), Cloudflare (application hosting), Stripe (payment processing), Resend (email delivery), and OpenRouteService (mileage and geocoding lookups). These providers process information only to perform services for us.
- ·Trip share links — when you create a trip-share link and share it, anyone who has that link can view the trip’s location information. You control whether and with whom to share links.
- ·Legal reasons — we may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights, our users, or the public.
- ·Business transfers — if the Service is sold or transferred, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
4. Location Data — Live Trip Share
Location data is collected only while you have an active trip running in Live Trip Share. You start and stop trips yourself. While a trip is active, your device’s GPS location is recorded periodically and associated with that trip. This location is displayed on a map accessible through the trip’s share link. Anyone who has the link can see the location while the trip is active, and the recorded trip path afterward. Trip location history is stored as part of your account data until you or we delete it. If you do not want to share your location, do not start a trip.
5. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. After you close your account, we may retain information for a reasonable period to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements, after which we delete or anonymize it. We may retain billing records as required by law.
6. Your Choices and Rights
You can review and update most account information in the app. You may request a copy of your data, correction of inaccurate data, or deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at [email protected]. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know what personal information we hold, the right to request deletion, and the right not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. We do not sell personal information.
7. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections, row-level database security so each account can access only its own data, and reliance on Stripe for payment security. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Cookies and Local Storage
The Service uses cookies and similar browser storage that are necessary for it to function, primarily to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
9. Children’s Privacy
The Service is intended for adults operating trucking businesses. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy. If we make material changes, we will provide notice through the Service or by email. The “Effective date” above shows when the current version took effect.
